I want a puppy for Christmas but I'm not sure if that's the best time to get one...?

I'm not sure If I should just wait for next summer to get here to get one that way, as it's a puppy I'll have plenty of time to be with it and train it..But I don't want the puppy to get used to me being around 24/7 because after summer I go back to school. And I want a Chihuahua so I know they can become attached. Maybe it would be a good idea to get one for Christmas? I mean, I'll have like 2-3 weeks before school will start again after winter break..I don't know..What should I do?
