Help! My silver jewelry has turned a different colour! Tarnished?

Silver is notorious for tarnishing but it takes awhile ... Never heard of this and I don't think salt water would have such a drastic effect. Go into Walmart and at the jewelry counter buy a polishing cloth which will remove black color. They might sell them in a dollar store . they have liquid silver cleaners but I've ruined silver doing that because sometimes there is a coating put on the jewelry and it'll pit. Your bracelet might just be plated-- lately they are using sterling to plate base metal and then they stamp it 925
